Places to see - Vouvant one of the prettiest villages in france

Recognized as one of the prettiest villages in France, Vouvant is situated high on a hill in a crook of the river Mere. Vouvant is surrounded by stout defensive walls, from which you can look down on to the meandering waterway below, and is filled with allusions to the regions most famous inhabitant, the mythical Melusine. Eglise Notre Dame church, (dating back to the 11th century) dominates the centre of the village, whilst beside the main car park is the Melusine tower.

The priest told the child’s grandmother to go and pick some. The old lady opened the door, and to her surprise, saw the tree in the courtyard laden with fruit. Vouvant amenities include, wine bar/ café, tabac, bakery, hotel, restaurant, and general store. The nearest supermarket is 15minutes drive away in La Chataigneraie. Many of the villages in the immediate vicinity have market day when it is possible to purchase fresh produce from the local farmers or perhaps look for a bargain at the bric a brac stalls.
